Godspell-The Musical

The Strand Theatre Preservation Society is thrilled to welcome the return of LIVE theater to Moundsville with its production of Godspell the musical! The show runs July 30 and 31 at 7pm and August 1 at 2pm.
Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from three-time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden); and it took the world by storm. A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
The cast and crew consist of artists from across the Ohio Valley. The production will be directed by Shelby Garrett, with musical direction by Justin Jones. Adam Marquart and Vince Marshall will lead the cast as Jesus and John the Baptist/Judas, respectively. Ensemble members include Delaney Bird, Ethan Casey, Rose Cunningham, Grace Gatts, Joe Heatherington, Alexa Jasinski, Amanda Leigh, Peter Lim, Evan Oslund, Renee Storm, Roy Williams, Michael Wylie, and Abby Young. A portion of proceeds from the show will benefit Shepherd’s Pantry in Marshall County.
In addition, you can join the cast at the annual Summer Cabaret on Friday, July 16, at 7 pm, where they will share songs of their choosing from a variety of musicals.
